Bond Strength between Resin Cement and Dentin Surfaces on Temporary Cement

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare shear bond strength adhesive resin cements on dentine which had been in contact with provisional cements prior to dentine bonding.
The shear bond strength of types of Resin cement to dentin were Measured in control group and after the application of two types of temporary cements. The samples were covered with Cavitec(eugenol-containing), Temp-bond NE(eugenol-free). All specimens were stored in saline for 10 days.
After removing the provisional cements with scaler, the dentin surface was cleaned with non-fluoridated flour of pumice
Cobalt-chromium alloy(Biosil F, Degussa Co., Ltd, Germany) were bonded to dentin surfaces after pretreatment with ¢¥ the resin cements. Shear bone strengths were measured using - UTM at a crosshead speed of lmm/min.

The obtained results were as follows :

1. Temporary cement (eugenol & non-eugenol) application significantly decreased the shear bond strength in all resin cements.
2. No significant difference was found between the shear bond strength of Cavitec (eugenol) and Temp - bond NE (non eugenol).
3. There was ro difference in shear bond strength between Super-bond C & B and Bistite resin cement.
4. The adhesive failure phenomenon has been observed within the group used the temporary cement,
whereas the adhesive failure and the cohesive failure had been surveyed within the other group at the
same time
